CHURCH MINISTRIES IMPACT REPORT 2023
Rev. Char Blair, Director
THANK YOU
What an honor it is to lead our NCN Church Ministries division! Our goal and ongoing vision is to not just plan events but PREPARE A GENERATION FOR REVIVAL.
We do this by . . .
Building relationships - people over programs.
Equipping youth pastors - we are committeed to building servant-leaders.
Developing Student Leaders - releasing the NextGen into ministry.
Champion the local Church - we partner, support and intercede.
2023 Top 6 Blessings (yes, we counted)
HIM . . . of course our Lord and savior Jesus Christ. He showed up . . . from the very beginning at our Next Gen Leadership Conference, Summer camps, drive-ins and last but not least Presence Conference. He blessed us repeatedly and our hunger for more of Him has been stirred!
Senior pastors/leaders who encourage their staff to lead at a district level. Pastors such as David Blythe, Andrew Huson, David Bliss, Eric Daniel, Kyle and Marcia Bethke, Gary Morefield, Greg Fairrington, Greg Simas, and the list goes on and on! These pastors release their yth, kidmin and young adult pastors to help build the church outside of their own church.
Scholarships . . . this year we had 5 churches come together and give so that students who didn’t have the funds to attend camp and youth convention. Thank you pastors . . . Dean Deguara, Jon Smith, Doug Heisel, Hector Gutierrez, and Paul Gottlieb. Because of these great leaders over 75 were able to attend camp and youth convention.
Aaron Perez . . . This year we welcomed a new team member to the Church Ministries team. Aaron is working with our CALLED students and helping to prepare a generation for a coming harvest. What an honor to have such a visionary on the team.
Leaders who love Jesus and His people and serve on the Church Ministries Teams: Regional DYD’s (Jason Varughese, Pat McConville, Justin Blattel, Jaime Pierce). KIDMIN Team (Savanna Williams, Johnathan Aleman, Frank Pereira, Aaron Gerring, Jerraline Coster, James Hall, Erika Diehl, Stacy Marks). NCN Prayer Team (Brian and Cindy Johnson, Ben and Jill Brown, Larry and Chaunda Jensen, Darryl and Trina Sanford, Jeff and Christina Lee, Tim and Katie Gavigan and Mary Inman). NCN Girls Ministries Team: Cindy Sampson, Director.
The Lord is still calling young people to ministry. We held our very first Commissioning serving at Presence Conference and witnessed 33 students being commissioned for the first time into ministry. We are grateful that young people are responding and He is still calling.
MISSIONS STATEMENTS
Prayer Ministry:
To Provide bold, faith-filled, spirit empowered prayer support for AGNCN
NCN Kids:
We are a team of uniquely skilled leaders that exist to see kids ministry within the center if every church. Our kids are needed and the future of the church depends on their growth, empowerment and service as future leaders.
Student Ministries:
To prepare a generation for revival by developing and supporting healthy, growing youth ministries in each of our NCN churches.
Fine Arts 2023 was held at Jessup University in Rocklin, CA. Young people from all over the NCN District participated, using their talent to bring honor and glory to the Lord. Special thanks to our District Fine Arts coordinator, Aaron Perez for all of his hard work.
SUMMER CAMP 2023
NCN had over 1,700 students attend summer camps with two kids camps and three youth camps. This year we partnered with High Point Assembly to host a camp at Mt. Lassen for those in the North State. What an incredible Experience.
Youth Conventions . . . Sac & Las Vegas
Youth Convention 2023:
Participation: 1,700+
Presence Conference is designed for an entire generation to come together to minister to Him. We know that when we minister to Him, He in turn ministers to us. Our desire is for a generation to crave the prayer closet over the platform. The altar is the focus of Presence Conference ... a place where we can lay down our lives and pick up His calling.
Thank you, Pastor Abe Daniel and your staff at Trinity Life Center Sacramento, for hosting Youth Convention.
NGLC 2023: Attendance: 330+
In January we hosted our annual NextGen Leadership Conference. We invite all those who work with youth, kids and young adults to come together to worship, listen and learn. We found out that a lot of next gen leaders don’t get to worship on Sunday mornings because they are serving. We host a worship service and then introduce relevant breakout sessions and main sessions that help with leadership and spiritual formation. In 2023 we heard from Becky Johnson from Jesus Culture and Jamil Stell from Chi Alpha.
A special thanks to Pastors Jon and Dr. Elizabeth Garcia-Smith for letting us use Harvest Church to host the event. Thank you as well to Nelson Vega and the worship team of Harvest Church for leading us so well.
BGMC: $114,162
Thank you to our NCN kids for all they raised to help our missionaries.
If your church has not given to BGMC in the past, it’s never to late to teach your church and children about this vital missions educational program. To learn more visit bgmc.ag.org
STL: $237,120
A special thank you to all the churches and youth ministries that participated this year. Our largest givers toward STL were Tracy Community Church, Calvary in Yuba City, Oak Park Christian Center in Pleasant Hill and Harvest Church, Elk Grove.
Wow!!!! This is the largest amount given to STL from our District since 2011.
GIRLS MINISTRIES
This fall we had our Teen Girl Retreat at Old Oak Ranch, Sonora. Special guests Rev. Jackie Welence and Lyndsay Darsan encouraged the girls to remember that God is always at work BEHIND THE SCENES and Olivia Llepes led some amazing worship. We had a sweet time with God!
With impactful messages, interactive sessions and activities, the girls walked away feeling refreshed and ready to dive deeper into their relationship with God and how He is working in their lives.
As the coordinator for Girls Ministries, Rev. Cindy Sampson has spent the year building relationships with GM clubs and their leadership. Cindy is also one of our main coordinators for Kids’ Council and the childcare at Minister’s Retreat. Thank you, Cindy, for your dedication to the kids of all ages in your NCN Family.
Celebrating 25 Years…
Sitting in Bible College one morning I heard one of my professors, Trace Spurgeon, fondly mention the Assemblies of God District Office. I had never thought about the AG having an office and I loved Jesus and administration. Something in my heart said, “I want to work there someday.”
Fast forward a couple of years later and I was attending Capital Bible College and needed a part-time job. I found one at 6051 S. Watt in 1998 in the mailroom. This was the year that the District offices moved from Scotts Valley to Sacramento. We were all confined to working together in one large room while the offices were being renovated. And that’s where it all started. I am grateful for the many leaders who invested in me and believed in me. I am truly surrounded by a great cloud . . . Thank you. October 25, 2023 marked 25 years of service. Thank you Jesus for placing me here.
At Presence Conference we hosted our first ever commissioning service. We commissioned 33 young people into ministry. We believe these are our future credential holders. We reiterate that everyone is called to minister, but not everyone is called into ministry. Our goal is to help Called students understanding their calling, get equipped and remain original to who God has made them to be. We’re not creating cookie cutters we’re developing young people to walk in their spiritual gifts while bearing spiritual fruit.
Preparing a Generation for Revival
Thank you to all of the pastors and leaders who have partnered with us to further the Kingdom of God. A special thank you to Faith Gallup who served with me in the Church Ministries office over the past five years. She transitioned to the Secretary-Treasurers office and remains committeed to helping to build the pastors of our District. I am truly grateful for all who have come alongside me to help me reach leaders and the NextGen with His presence. Amen.
