2020 Annual Report
2020 has been a year of innovation. We have found ourselves faced with discovering new ways to do ministry. We’ve also learned to be flexible as we continue to minister to the communities God has given us. Our time has been filled with Zoom, FaceTime, and Facebook connections. The result has been phenomenal adaptation, ministry, and spiritual growth in our ministers and their congregations.
We have continued to equip, encourage and edify our ministers as we have practiced what we preach by finding new ways to communicate and present pieces of training and conversations.
Here are some of the highlights:
Recalibrate
Recalibrate was retained as the title of our leadership training events. At our Recalibrate Events, we focus on opportunities for in-depth teaching, interactive and practical presentations that enable and equip our ministers to take their churches and leadership to the next level. In 2020, we had multiple top-shelf trainers and presenters. We started with Troy Jones sharing in February about “Recalibrating your Sunday Mornings.” We continued in May with Dary Northrup as he trained us on how to “Recalibrate your Staff and Board.” In November, we wrapped up with Pete Vossler and Harley Allen, sharing their knowledge of how to Recalibrate your “Giving and Missions Giving.”
Just Between Us
JBU is an invaluable ministry to our pastor's wives, credentialed women, and widows. Teri Herndon leads this ministry. JBU includes Coffee Connections, Podcasts, personal connections, and an annual retreat. Our goal is to present a strong quality ministry to our women ministers, which equips them to reach their chosen ministry areas.
Our JBU retreat is an annual event prepared and presented by our Executive wives, Valerie Allen and Linda Huddleston, under Teri Herndon's direction. This year the JBU was an online eRetreat with a strong ministry team: Nirva Ready (Worship), Robin May (Word), and executive wives (Table Talk). We concluded with 9 specialized Ministry track Zoom Rooms. We are excited to be a part of a district with such a strong and anointed group of women ministers! Specials thanks and great appreciation to the JBU committee!!!
Pastoral Care
Pastoral Care has been at the forefront of ministry out of our office this year. With so many pastors reaching out, we developed a new Pastoral Care Team. This team is comprised of seasoned pastors and leaders, along with professional counselors and coaches. We are excited to see what the future holds as we continue to expand and provide this viable ministry to our district's ministers.
2020 Ministers Retreat
This year's Ministers Retreat, scheduled for August 31st - September 2, has been affectionately renamed our "UnRetreat." Our Resort was unable to allow us to meet together. The good news is, we were able to keep our room reservations open. Over 200 of our pastors and their spouses took advantage of this opportunity resulting in many great connections and reunions.
Church Planting
Church planting continues to be part of our plan to reach Northern California and Nevada. We were excited to be able to have 11 new churches start in our district! These new ministries represented every church category of our district as we saw new plants in urban, suburban, rural, and culture-specific areas. We're excited about the potential of these new churches and the pastors that God is continually calling into this facet of ministry.
Special Thanks
I am so grateful for the great team at our District Resource Center! Special thanks to our District officers, Pastor Bret Allen, Dr. Sam Huddleston, and Dr. Jay Herndon, our administrative staff, and especially to my administrative assistant, Jackie Lynn. Together, they have enabled our office to effectively minister to our pastors and churches in our district.
Respectfully Submitted,
