Annual Report 2021
2021 has been a year of innovation. We have found ourselves faced with discovering new ways to do ministry and it has forced us to learn to be flexible to continue to minister to the communities that God has given us. Our time has been filled with connecting on Zoom, FaceTime, and face to face meetings. The result has been phenomenal adaptation, ministry, and spiritual growth in our ministers and their congregations.
We have continued to equip, encourage, and edify our ministers as we have practiced what we preach by finding new ways to communicate and present pieces of training and conversations.
Here are some of the highlights:
Leadership Development
Recalibrate was brought back as the title of our main training events. These events are focused on opportunities for in-depth teaching, interactive and practical presentations that enable and equip our ministers to take their churches to the next level. Glen Berteau started us out in 2021 with our main event held in January entitled “Recalibrate Your Preaching”. He returned in September 2021 as our guest speaker for Church 101 and brought more in-depth teaching. –
In May of 2021, Pastor and Author, Nona Jones facilitated our Recalibrate referencing her book, “From Social Media to Social Ministry,” Throughout this timely webinar, Pastor Nona shared great tips on how to build an online community.
Just Between Us
JBU is an invaluable ministry to our pastor's wives, credentialed women, and widows. This includes Coffee Connections, Podcasts, personal connections, and our annual retreat. JBU’s goal is to present strong quality ministry, which equips those in leadership to reach their chosen ministry areas.
JBU’s Retreat is an annually event that is prepared and presented by the Executive Wives, Valerie Allen and Linda Huddleston, under the direction of Teri Herndon. The 2021 JBU Retreat was held at the Rancho Murieta Inn & Spa. Our guest speaker, Crystal Heisel from New Life Church, Dublin did an amazing job as she ministered to 124 ladies who joined us for the event. We are excited to be a part of a district with such a strong and anointed group of women ministers!
2021 Ministers Retreat
We had a wonderful time at our Minister’s Retreat this year! Our speaker Dary Northrop did an amazing job. We shared great worship and the fellowship, which was well overdue! Great ministry, clean air, and great friends all made this one of our best retreats ever with 387 of our pastors and their spouses from 115 different churches who took advantage of this opportunity that resulted in great connections and reunions.
Church Planting
Church planting continues to be part of the plan to reach Northern California and Nevada. We were excited to be able to have eight new churches start in our district! These new ministries represented every church category of our district as we saw new plants in urban, suburban, rural, and culture-specific areas. We're excited about the potential of these new churches and the pastors that God is continually calling into this facet of ministry.
Special Thanks
I am so grateful for the great team at our District Resource Center! Special thanks to our District officers, Pastor Bret Allen, Dr. Sam Huddleston, and Dr. Jay Herndon, our ministry teams, our administrative staff, and especially my administrative assistant, Jackie Lynn. Together, they have enabled our office to effectively minister to the pastors and churches in our district.
Respectfully Submitted,
